Maryland Basketball Started a Nation-Wide College Basketball Dance-Off

ESPN - A few weeks ago, Maryland Terrapins guards (and goofballs) Jaylen Brantley and Jared Nickens issued a dance challenge to some friends in the college basketball world. Their message: “Who wanna battle?” Many accepted the call in the #runningmanchallenge — all accompanied by the underrated ’90s track, “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs.

When I first saw this last week, I was a bit confused. I didn’t have a clue what was going on, mostly because I’m an un-hip, white blogger. I just saw a couple Terps having fun dancing and thought nothing else of it. Little did I know it would launch into a nation-wide viral dance-off between college hoops teams everywhere.

Miami jumped in. Nigel Hayes jumped in. Former Terp Seth Allen jumped in.

Both the men’s and women’s National Champions got on board:

Justise Winslow nailed it:

And UNC and Michigan State…they tried.

But no team did it better than the Terps.

And here’s your winner:

Melo’s draft stock just skyrocketed. Natural dancer. In fact, round of applause for everyone’s dancing. White people knew to stay away from this one. We can’t dance like that. We just can’t. Proud of us for knowing better than to even try.
