Oh and not only did Mike sit down with her but he also decided to basically announce his retirement from WFAN in 2017 for the first time publicly!

Anyway thats big news from the Sports Pope. Obviously he’s made it very clear hes not leaving the business totally. But the end of Mike’s On will be a watershed moment for New York Sports Radio. It will also be a huge moment for Barstool when Mike decides to join the Chernin/Barstool endeavor to take over the world. Just me and my coworker Mike, chernin-g out podcasts each week. Just a couple of titans of the podcasting game. No big deal.

But honestly something along those lines has to be Mike’s next step. Not partnering with anyone, but a weekly podcast or something with a drastically lighter work load. There’s no doubt Mike can do this kinda stuff in his sleep until the day he dies but you gotta wonder if a change of this magnitude fucks with everything. Its like when Oprah retired from her TV show to go start her own TV network. Nobody really cares about that channel. People just liked Oprah on her daytime talk show giving out cars and shit to the audience. Whatever Mike does next I’ll probably listen to, but if it isnt him screaming WAITASECKIN at some inbred New York idiot calling him up to propose ridiculous trades, it just wont be the same. Different doesnt necessarily mean worse, but you know what I mean. 5 hours of Mike every day has become part of people’s daily routines and nobody likes when their routine changes.
