The New Day Were On SportsCenter Last Night And Are The Best

“Trombone girl, bone this man!” My goodness they are good. We watch/suffer through 3 hours of Raw every week, and The New Day, week after week, are the best thing about the show. They are funny, incredibly entertaining, and don’t break character. They are what happens when WWE/Vince trusts guys to write their own stuff and parlay their own sense of humor and personalities into characters. Mick Foley has talked about this- how in the Attitude Era if wrestlers like The Rock, Stone Cold, or himself weren’t allowed to write and cut their own promos, things would have been way different. When you let performers improvise and play off each other naturally, good things can happen. And The New Day is a perfect example.

If Big E isn’t in the main event picture by this time next year something is completely wrong. I love that they are building him, Xavier, and Kofi up slowly. They steal the show whenever they are on, but it’s not completely in your face (like Roman Reigns). They use New Day just enough to make you want more, but not make you sick of them. WWE is AWESOME at making you sick of people you like, while simultaneously making you even sicker of guys you don’t like (like Roman Reigns). I mean shit, the entire Rumble revolves around Roman Reigns as the top face, but the second Brock Lesnar entered the ring with him on Monday, Reigns got all the boo’s and Lesnar got the face pop. Every time the WWE hand picks someone to be the top face instead of letting it happen organically, it doesn’t work out. But hey, won’t stop Vince from trying for the 20th time, as he’d rather make a dollar his way than a million dollars your way.
