NFL Monday Afternoon Rewind - AFC Divisional Round
Ditka the G.
Chiefs 20, Patriots 27
Ok Terry, let’s see how this goes for you.
Bad news for the AFC. The Patriots offense is healthy again.
I seriously don’t understand how anyone guards Gronk. I’ve gotten shit for saying he’s the best player in football but I truly believe he changes games more than any other guy.
Oh and Playoff Brady is also back. That’s bad for everyone else who has a team still left.
Settle down bro, don’t get too excited.
Credit to Alex Smith for doing everything in his power to keep the Chiefs in this game.
Unfortunately for him a few things happened. The aforementioned Playoff Tom and Gronk. A brutal Kniles Davis fumble to start the second half.
And of course, everyone’s favorite Coach using those savvy clock management skills down the stretch. Down 2 scores with 6 and a half minutes left? Let’s run a slow 5 minute touchdown drive with no urgency. 3 minutes left on 1st and goal? Let’s huddle up and run the ball and burn the two minute warning before getting into the end zone. I love Andy Reid, he is one of my favorite coaches for comedic fodder, but the fact that he still sucks this bad with the clock is amazing. The final image of the 2015-16 Chiefs season.
“So if there are 90 seconds left and I have 3 timeouts and hold on, give me one more second, I’ve almost got this figured out here, wait, hold on.”
*Takes delay of game penalty*
Checking back in on Terry.
Steelers 16, Broncos 23
The Sheriff!
Punters laying the absolute BOOM!
Dicks getting knocked in helmet to helmet (different type) hits.
Coaches getting flattened.
And Pey Pey playing Possum. t’s the Steelers at the Broncos!
So what happened in this one? Well the banged up Steelers actually played their asses off. Controlled the game, moved the ball decently well (neither team looked great on Offense) and had an opportunity to ice the game with a 4th quarter field goal or possible touch down only to have this happen.
And then it was Peyton’s time. The Sheriff never quits.
We briefly interrupt this game recap to tell you about the time I accidentally asked to see a picture of Rovell’s Children online. This is why you shouldn’t drink on Sundays, folks.
Alright then, back to the game. And after a Broncos touchdown and 2 point conversion we had some all time spread drama. Steelers couldn’t get a first down and gave the ball back to the Broncos on their own 30 which led to a FG and a 10 point Bronco lead (the spread was 7 or 7.5). Thankfully Mike Tomlin, God bless his soul, did the correct thing and kicked a 50 yard field goal the second the Steelers entered Field Goal range with under a minute. Crisis averted.
Hey honey, I’m not sure you necessarily want this.
The perfect headline.
