Kmarko's NBA DraftKings Picks - January 8
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Sorry I couldn’t get any picks up yesterday, but as you could probably see, we had a lot going on. Didn’t have time to do my due diligence, and it was a real small slate anyway. But, we have been on a little bit of a hot streak to start off 2016, so after a little pause in the action yesterday I think we can jump right back into it for a big Friday.
I’ll be honest, for a lot of games tonight, there aren’t a ton of players that jump off the page at me. Normally it’s hard to narrow it down to 3 guys to feature – today it’s hard to find 3 solid ones that I’m confident in. Here goes nothing…
C Brook Lopez $7.9K
I’m having a hard time locking down my favorite big money play of the night – Westbrook, Durant, Anthony Davis, Steph, Draymond…they all look good, but if I’m spending that type of cash, I want to feel it in my plums that they’re going to go off for 70. Instead I’ll keep it cheaper and balanced and go with the “most expensive” center on the board – but at 7.9K, that speaks more of the quality of centers playing tonight. Bottom line is Brook has been rock solid while also mixing in some 55-65 point monsters, and let’s be honest, the Nets don’t have many options on offense. He’s got a great floor for cash games, but the upside is also there for tourneys.
PG Kyrie Irving $6.9K
Judging by his ownership lately I think people are still scared to play Kyrie while he shakes the rust off and looks truly healthy. Wellllll not sure if those people have been paying attention, but over the past 2 games, I’d say that rust is pretty much all gone. Back to back 40+ fantasy point games with his minutes gradually getting back to his normal run – looks like him and Lebron are firing on all cylinders. Maybe the % will be up with people catching on, but the price definitely isn’t – 6.9K is a steal for a guy who will be up in the 8’s before you know it. Take advantage while he’s cheap.
VALUE PLAY PG Mario Chalmers $4.6K
Injuries…they suck for real life people. Never root for anybody to get hurt, with careers and livelihoods on the line. But hey – if a guy’s out, what are we supposed to do, ignore it? Got to capitalize, and that’s exactly why I’m firing up Mario Chalmers tonight. Conley is likely out with his Achilles, Courtney Lee is doubtful…Chalmers is coming off a 40 minute, 52 fantasy point game. Sometimes opportunity knocks and it helps you win money on DraftKings.
Other guys to consider:
I’m going to try my best to mix Durant into at least one of my lineups tonight – the Lakers on the second night of a back to back are always ripe to pick on. I listed two point guards above, but Kyle Lowry might sneaky be right up there as my favorite – he’s been so good lately. Shooting guard is tough – I’ll probably roll with ‘Dipo again, or spend up a little bit on Klay. Power Forward, as always, is impossible – look for Darrel Arthur as a value play with Faried out. Or spend up for Anthony Davis, or consider Thad Young. If you want to fade Brook Lopez, Vucevic is riskier but can easily tear apart that frontcourt.
…
That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.
