The Redskins Hanging 47 on the Saints Was The Straw That Broke Rob Ryan's Back

For the first time maybe ever, a coach was fired after a Redskins game and it wasn’t a Redskins coach. I’m not going to celebrate a guy losing his job, but I will nod my head in approval that the Skins made the Saints look so bad yesterday that they got a coach fired. Not taking anything away from the Skins because they gameplanned perfectly for Rob Ryan’s patented “don’t tackle anyone defense”, but man oh man, the Saints defense STINKS.

And Rob Ryan…well, he probably shouldn’t even have been there to begin with (h/t Clemzingis):

Yikes bro. Reminds me of the old Hasslet defenses we put up with for way, way too long here in DC. That’s just some ugly defenses. Even in 2013 when they were 4th in yards and points, they were an astonishing 29th in takeaways. I did some quick mental math: over 12 NFL seasons Ryan’s defenses averaged 22nd in yards against, 22nd in points against, and 24th in takeaways. 12 years and he was in the top half of the league in points against 3 times. Top half in yards allowed 3 times. And top half in takeaways twice. But he does have a cool beard and the last name “Ryan”, so I can’t wait to see where he signs on next. Rooting so hard for Buffalo.
