Paul Finebaum Was Absolutely Beside Himself That Iowa Was #5 In The CFB Playoff Rankings
Full disclosure. I’m new to this. I’m new to this whole Iowa-football-being-undfeated-and-ranked-really-high-in-the-CFB-Playoff-rankings so I wasn’t sure what to expect from mainstream media people. But I gotta say, watching guys like Paul Finebaum, Kirk Herbstreit and Colin Cowherd lose their goddamn minds over how they think Iowa is undeserving might be my favorite part. I thought Finebaum was gonna cry during last night’s broadcast. I really did. Joey Galloway and Danny Kanell were throwing their support behind Kirk Ferentz and the 9-0 Hawkeyes and Finebaum wanted to reach through the TV and punch them in the face. Finebaum got so desperate in his anti-Iowa pleas that at one point he brought up the fact that Iowa got walloped in their bowl game against Tennessee. That’s just pure uneducated Haterade from Paul. That bowl game means absolutely nothing now. It’s a different season and a different team now. We have a different quarterback and, despite Kirk Ferentz looking the same, he’s a different guy now. Fuck Paul Finebaum.
Another thing. People were blowing up my Twitter last night with questions like, “Do you really think Iowa could beat any of the teams ranked above or around them? Even on a neutral field?” My answer to that is this: I have no idea. I’ve said all along (and so has Ferentz) that I don’t know how good this football team really is but all they do is win. So I don’t know the answers to all the hypotheticals people are throwing at me. I will say this, I wanna find out. It would be so fun to find out. The cool thing is if Iowa keeps winning, we do get to find out. Starting with the B1G Championship Game. Maybe Iowa gets blown out of the water by 60 when they play Ohio State in the B1G Championship Game. Fine. It was a good run. Or maybe the Hawks keep it close, somehow pull out a win and then the fun really starts. Who knows. That’s why they play the games. I just wanna see what happens and enjoy the ride.
