Trestman it is! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
I’m satisfied with this hire. I’m not too concerned about what happened with him out in Chicago. Some people just aren’t cut out to be head coaches in the NFL. Marc Trestman is one of those guys. His job isn’t to command the locker room and inspire 53 guys to go out and give it their all. We don’t need that. We’ve already got that in spades and then some. We just need a wizard with the X’s and O’s who can build a rapport with Joe Flacco. Flacco’s demeanor worked well with Kubiak, who isn’t a fire and brimstone guy. Neither is Trestman. Flacco is exactly what Jay Cutler isn’t. They should flourish together.
And the best part is that he’s likely in for the long haul. Coordinators move fast in the NFL, but 4 OC’s in 4 years is just ridiculous. Adam Gase would’ve been a sexy hire, but we’d be in this same exact situation next winter. Now Trestman can settle in and get his hands dirty with this offense and give it some continuity. He’s got OC experience, a successful track record, and he’s not going to skip town any time soon. That’s exactly what we need. Great hire.
