Throwing A Superman Punch In An NHL Fight Will Always And Forever Be So Nails

One of the great things about this current generation of NHL players is that you can always tell which highlights they grew up watching on YouTube. You see the way that guys move around with the puck out there and you can instantly tell they've spent hours watching Patrick Kane highlights. You see guys with preposterous handles in the shootout and you know their YouTube history is nothing but Pavel Datsyuk. They are able to completely emulate those movements because they've become so engrained into their brain from watching them over and over again.
For a guy like Simon Benoit, it's clear that he watched nothing but Kevin Bieksa leveling dudes with a Superman Punch.

So when he finally got his chance to unload one of his own last night against Michael Kesselring, he decided to send it with zero hesitation.

The issue with the Superman Punch is that it's an all or nothing move. You need to land it, and the fight is over. But if you miss? Well now you're all off balance, and the other dude has an opportunity to tee off. Unfortunately for Simon Benoit, he came away with nothing as far as the actual fight was concerned. However, he did end up with some of the sickest photos to ever come out of a hockey fight.
This image will last forever, and the day will eventually come when everybody forgets who actually won the fight. So it might take a little extra time, but Simon Benoit come away with the win here at some point.
Also you have to give the man some more credit here. Simon Benoit has officially become the first player in NHL history to throw a Superman Punch in a fight immediately after scoring a goal on the ensuing faceoff.
So nails.
