"So You Can Kinda Shove That One Right Up Your Ass" - Titans Coach Brian Callahan Went On A 2 Minute Rant After A Reporter Asked About The Idea That The Titans Are A Soft Football Team

Okay Brian, this is how you TRY to win a fanbase back. A rant like this? In these circumstances? He's hitting every button he can. All it took was a reporter asking Callahan about the idea of his team being soft. The word "soft" to an NFL coach may as well be the worst thing they've ever heard. You can see coaches physically start to get mad when the word "soft" is said in their presence. Callahan took that to heart and unleashed a 2 minute rant that was pretty damn good. Wouldn't put it past the 3-11 coach to plant that question there so he can hit this rant head on. It does seem legit too, straight from the heart. Doesn't seem like he was rehearsing it the night before or was reading off a card, he left his rant fly. I do enjoy him showing some signs of life, he's actively still trying to coach this team and turn it around. If this is what he needs to get his fire lit again, fine by me. Here are some of the highlights of this rant about the Titans being soft.

"You really wanna get me going today?" *chuckles* "To be honest with ya, complete and total bullshit"

Good way to start it off, put that on a tee for yourself and set it up as a joke and then BOOM. Ya drop a "bullshit". Once you hit the media with a curse word, it's over. They're zoned in now. It's like the reaction to a game winning field goal. You see reporters slowly start to see what is happening and they get their twitter ready for this rant that now has the potential to go viral. Now it's on.

"These guys are tough fuckers"

WE GOT AN "F BOMB" FOLKS! HIGH ALERT EVERYONE, WE'RE GOING VIRAL NOW.

"They play hard as hell!"

Play the hits baby.

"I can't even wrap my mind around how that can be a conversation. Just cause we don't win games doesn't mean we're soft."

Little playful jokes there, kinda calling the question dumb without saying it. He also thought he was cooking with that last part, put that on a t shirt baby.

"These guys play their ass off."

Continuing to play the hits. Said another curse word to get their attention again.

"That means you don't just watch the shit."

Telling someone they don't know ball.

"I'd like you to walk in there and call one of these guys soft and see what happens"

Nice little threat, telling whoever has that idea that they don't have the onions to drop that s bomb on one of these players to their face. Being called "soft" is possibly the worst kind of thing that can happen to you in the NFL. It's almost a death sentence.

And then he ends it with

"So you can kinda shove that one right up your ass to be honest"

Killer finishing move. Anytime you can tell someone to shove it right up their ass, you just have to do it.

I will say, he sounds like a kid who learned how to cuss in college and is now showing off how much he curses. But good for him, I called for his head a few weeks ago and even though the team is fucking awful with 0 real future, this was a positive sign for Cally to show some life like this. Maybe he's putting on a display to the ownership to show he's still bought in and wants to be here, trying to convince a very emotional ownership group to not act on this season and fire him? I thought it was entertaining and maybe the first real good press conference rant we've had this year.

At least he is showing a pulse, not going down without throwing a punch. Can at least respect him for that, we did get some good soundbites too. But don't get it twisted, this is a bad team. You can call them a lot of things but I don't really think "soft" is one of them. They've had a few ugly games but they have some guys who really do give it everything they've got. Jeffrey Simmons, Tony Pollard, Chig Okonkwo are a few of those guys, every single game they're knocking heads, this isn't a soft squad. They just stink. Jerod Mayo called his guys soft look how they responded, this is the complete opposite. Prob felt good for him to let all those cursewords out, now he can relax a little bit. Overall I'd give this rant a B+, easily the best one of the NFL season.

PS. I do like how he has this rant and is asked this question 2 weeks after some of their players complained about being too cold in a game that was 41 degrees.
