Brett Favre Releases a Heartfelt Apology For The Mark Gastineau Situation That Went Viral Yesterday

Yesterday I blogged the incredibly awkward encounter above between Mark Gastineau and Brett Favre. The former Jets pass rusher confronted Favre at an autograph signing and brought up his 22 year old grudge about Brett "taking a dive" against Michael Strahan and gifting him the single season sack record. The clip was part of an ESPN 30 for 30 that's set to air in a few days about the New York Jets Sack Exchange. It's uncomfortable, weird, and sad. Gastineau deals with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and clearly isn't well, but there was ESPN to gain from all that.

The clip spread like wild fire yesterday and was the talk everywhere. That forced Brett Favre to take to Twitter and apologize to Mark. For Brett it presented him an ideal opportunity to take the heat off everything else he's involved in.

It's borderline impossible to make Brett Favre appear as a sympathetic figure in today's world. Mark Gastineau accomplished that task yesterday. Now does he care? I'd be stunned if he had any thoughts left in his brain besides that Favre-Strahan incident. It's all just sad.

Also hilarious that THIS is what Brett Favre takes the time to apologize for. Not the welfare scandal that saw him pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars from the less fortunate. An 8 tweet thread about taking a fake sack 22 years ago. Incredible.
