The Daniel Jones Era Is Officially Over After The Giants Release Him
No matter what side you were on in the Daniel Jones Civil War, I think everyone can agree that this was the move that had to happen. It's one thing to bench the quarterback you signed to a fortune for a living meme or Drew Lock. But it's quite another to put him as QB4 behind Tim fucking Boyle and have him play scout safety in practice.
Daniel Jones unlocking his injury guarantee by hitting someone at practice would've been peak Giants.
Anyway, since Daniel was significantly more popular in the locker room than with the fanbase, Joe Schoen probably had to do this before the vibes reached the circus levels of, ummmm, pretty much every Giants season since 2016 other than 2022. Now Daniel can figure out his next stop as a quarterback and the Giants can start paying off the rest of the guarantees of his massive contract that will be brought up until they put out the fire that has been roaring at MetLife for damn near a decade.
I always like Daniel as a person, no matter how much his play could drive me nuts. Which is why I hope he signs as a backup somewhere that has a great offensive mind along with some weapons and maybe rejuvenates his career like Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, etc. instead of hunting for a starting job with his hometown Panthers or sign as a backup with the Eagles just to be a dick. Regardless, my time on The Wall of Dimes has come to an end alongside a group of young men I was honored to share a bunker with as we get ready to defend the next playcaller this franchise attempts to ruin.
