Should Tyson Bagent Get A Start As Some Veterans On The Team Reportedly Have Asked

Look, I will be honest. I didn't want to do this. A third Bears blog about the dysfunction on offense and at Halas Hall before lunch is a lot. I do what I am told. Company man. Team player. Full disclosure, one of our editors, who just so happens to be a Packers fan said I should blog this. Here is the blog.

I would like to know which vets said that Bagent should start. Was it the guy who everyone was lip reading IN WEEK FUCKING 2 OF THE SEASON WHO STRONGLY ADVOCATED FOR JUSTIN FIELDS AT THE END OF LAST SEASON?

I don't know. That is what the internet is guessing at this point. He has seemed very much like a malcontent this season even after he was given a monster contract and named a captain.

In my opinion...the ONLY reason why you'd sit Caleb Williams is because you can see him ruining him for the long term in real time. I agree that he could use a reset, but I am not sure benching him is the best way to achieve that. He isn't Bryce Young (Even though the new playcaller was Bryce Young's OC last year, great call, Bears). Caleb has been bad. We are all watching the same games. Nobody is saying he's been good. I do think he has the right stuff. He's got the minerals. Benching him be the thing that might break him completely.

I talked to a guy on the team pre-draft. The Bears had their leaders take Caleb out to a nice steak dinner and the reports back from that dinner were that Caleb was a dude. A football guy. A very likable guy. Things certainly could've changed in the last 6+ months, but I doubt it. Caleb is getting killed. Some of that is his doing, but I don't think he's the most guilty party. I don't know what the best solution is at this point, but I think the only way out is through. Try to stay healthy. Go out there and fucking sling it. Anticipate it. At this point I don't care if he throws 20 interceptions the rest of the way. He's got to play free as possible and learn as he goes. Peyton Manning threw 28 INTs his rookie year. If Caleb can learn from his mistakes he will be fine. The worst thing is to doubt himself, and that's what it looks like out there.
