The Cleveland Cavaliers (+1500 To Win The Title) Are Only The 8th Team In NBA History To Start The Season 12-0
So I blogged this the other day and I'll admit, I was just trying to get a reaction out of my good friends down in the comment section. I was partially excited, partially bored, and partially trying to add another easy blog to my stat line in case I need evidence to keep my job should my esteemed boss decide to follow through with his threat that I would be non-renewed. So yeah, I'll come clean that at 9-0 and having played no one above .500 like my Accountability Partner guntherleonardo pointed out...
….I didn't really think we were going for the 74-8 NBA record. That was at 9-0. But now? After having squared off in a 4 quarter fight with the 7-1 Warriors that last approximately fifteen minutes until the Cavs went up 83-42 in the first half. Yeah, I'm gonna pause here and say that again. 83-42 Cavs in the first half against the 7-1 Warriors. Is that good enough for you guntherleonardo? And then the next night we beat Brooklyn on a back-to-back. And then last night we came to Chicago and knocked off the Bulls at home. So I sit here this morning, a perfect 12-0…
….and now I go from satire to the utmost seriousness: are the Cavs going to break the 74-8 NBA record? I'm not neccesarily a Math guy but if they keep up this 12-0 pace, I have them finishing a perfect 82-0, which would shatter the record. But I'm a realist and I understand that PROBABLY won't happen, so instead of focusing on the perfect season, I just want 74-8. Here's how the measly Cavs compare to the hottest starts in recent memory:
I'm no fool. 24-0 is likely not going to happen. But I want 15-0, and here's the path it will take to get there:
@ 76ers, Bulls, Hornets. Haters will say none of those teams have winning records but my question is this: who the fuck has a winning record in the East anymore? It's like searching for a needle in a haystack just to try and find a team that isn't 4-7.
With that being said, if we do get to that 15-0 mark, holy fuck will that Nov. 19th NBA Cup game @ Boston be the biggest regular season game in the history of the sport. The team that everyone anointed the 3x NBA Champions before they even kicked off their title defense, against the potential 15-0….yet still +1500 to win the title….Cleveland Cavaliers. Clear the calendar folks, that is must watch television!
