The Saints Firing Dennis Allen Was A No-Brainer, Yet Somehow Makes Even More Sense After Seeing Just How Statistically Bad Their Loss To The Panthers Was (BONUS: A Bunch Of Derek Carr Slander Stats)

I think it's fair to say that most of us had the same reaction to seeing this news, which was "What took the Saints so long?". That reaction covers the people questioning that since he was hired to replace Sean Payton back in 2022 all the way until making to to Week 9 of a season where the Saints' only two wins were over the awful Panthers and the at best bad Cowboys.

However it wasn't losing to a team that some people could be the worst NFL team we have seen in decades. It was the historic manner in which they lost.

As a fan of the Giants, Mets, and Knicks I am no stranger to seeing the numbers paint a picture of just how incredible it was to witness a team pull defeat from the jaws of victory. But even I think those numbers are INSANE.

I would say a performance like that clearly shows that the players don't respect Dennis Allen, but I think that was pretty obviously the case at the end of LAST season.

They always say that a coach and his starting quarterback are linked, which is especially true for Dennis Allen and Derek Carr in yet another stat that made my jaw hit the floor.

Is Dennis Allen the Derek Carr of coaches or vice versa? I'm not sure, but at least Carr is still employed and may be working on making more history the rest of the season.

I'm not sure how many healthy receivers Carr will have to make that history however if he keeps hanging his teammates out to dry like this.

Or if Carr will even be able to show his face if Michael Thomas keeps tweeting like this.

Or something even worse happens.

I imagine Stathole is already digging deeeeeeep into his bag of misery math for the saddest stats involving this year's Who Dats. So I'll wrap things up by wishing Dennis Allen good luck wherever he may in the future and we'll always have that time you caused the Cowboys radio announcers to lose any semblance of joy in their voices.
