Ohio State Survives Nebraska (Barely) As Ryan Day Improves To 44-0 Against Unranked Teams
Listen ESPN, "holds off" is not the proper term on how that game just went. The only word you can possibly use to describe Ohio State's outcome against Nebraska just now is SURVIVE. I mean, that's the #4 team in the country (that many still have as the National Title favorites) coming back home after a 1-point loss on the road to a Top 3 team, having two weeks to prepare, looking to take their anger out on a 25 point underdog in Columbus. And it takes a late score and an interception from a 19 year old to do it? Guys I don't even think we survived there. I think we flat out stink and Nebraska is just a little bit worse. Did they not just lose by 50 to Indiana last week?
Anyways, update the record board:
No one, and I mean no one, wins the little games like Ryan Day! But speaking of Indiana, they might call me daunted for this take, but did they just play themselves into a Lose/Lose in Columbus in a few weeks? We're at the point where the Hoosiers look so good, and the Buckeyes look so bad, that they could actually maybe beat us. And if they do, is Curt Cignetti the Head Coach of Ohio State by dinner time?
Not the point of today's blog though. Today's blog is how Ohio State, who goes to Penn State next Saturday, can't run the ball, can't stop the pass, has awful play calling, and needed to be bailed out by the refs at times today. Although the refs did fuck us, too....
I'm not saying his had any impact on the outcome and even if it did, I can't whine and complain about Targeting at the end of a game we should've been up 4 scores in, but what the fuck? That should've been a clean hit + a catch + a fumble….and instead they get a million yards and an ejection? And now he's out to start next week against Penn State.
But the good news, win or lose, is that our boys stayed true to our identity today:
Non Ohio-State fans might not get this and it might seem like a lame chirp, but this Buckeye team has focused on praying and Jesus and God all season, having a greater purpose than football. Even after Oregon, at least we still had Jesus! Captains in the locker room saying the loss was simply the Lord testing them and it was all part of his plan. And I want to say this in the least offensive way possible to someone who worships our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ: Alabama players have “Kill Everyone” on their eye black and we have “Deuteronomy 4:12”. At some point Ryan Day needs to wake these motherfuckers up, that we paid $30 million for, and get them to play and coach better. Is this the most over-hyped, lowest performing team in the history of football? No. But if we lose to Indiana, Penn State, and/or Michigan and miss the playoff…Yes, it will be.
