I Don't Know If I've Ever Looked Forward To Season 2 Of A Show Like I'm Looking Forward To Season 2 Of "Severance"

"Severance" season 1 was an incredible season of television. When I started it, I was a little worried it was going to be one of those shows that everyone raves about but didn't hit the mark for me. We all have those shows. You meet people all the time who say they "just can't get into Breaking Bad" or whatever. Personally, I never finished "Mad Men". While I appreciate how well written the show is, I got a bit tired of the redundancy of the storylines.

The main issue most people have with S1 of Severance is the fact it starts slow and is a slow build, but my god if you stick with it the payoff is a 10000/10. The finale is one of the best episodes of television all time. It truly is a masterclass in building and building and building to an awesome payoff and even more, a cliffhanger for the ages. And that's why I cannot wait for season 2.

At first I could not BELIEVE they made us wait over 2 years for season 2. Which by the way is still bullshit. But I have been through all the motions and feelings about this wait. First, immediately after finishing the show, I was furious there wouldn't be a new season until 2025. And then I went through a period of coming to terms I might be dead before it airs. And then I rewatched season 1. And then I fell into a nice spot where I was occupied with other stuff enough to forget about desperately needing season 2. And wouldn't you know it, they dropped the trailer today and I am fired the fuck up to watch Season 1 again just in time for season 2 to begin. Whew.

SPOILER ALERT AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED SEASON 1 YET:

I have a take that I want on the record in case I end up being correct- I don't see this show having any sort of happy ending. I think our man Mark (Adam Scott) is going to be fucked for life. I think it will be like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" where he will forget about Lumon and repeat this cycle over and over and over again. He will never get out of the Lumon machine. Never be with his wife. That's my prediction.
