"I Definitely Would Love To Be Reunited With KAT" - Anthony Edwards Joking Around About Teaming Up With Karl-Anthony Towns One Day Is Extremely Mean To All Timberwolves Fans

Life as a Timberwolves fan (and really a Minnesota sports fan in general) is certainly not easy. Sure they had early and prime KG, but ultimately they had to deal with watching him win a title immediately after being traded away. There were some fun times during the Jimmy Butler era when they finally broke their playoff drought, but we all saw how that experiment ended. Then last year you had the best Wolves team since those KG days led by a franchise player in KAT and one of the best young players in the entire league in Anthony Edwards, only for that to be ripped away this past summer.

It's almost as if the second the fine people of MIN finally get anything nice regarding their basketball team, the Basketball Gods laugh and say "watch this" and immediately rip their hearts out. It's kind of fucked up if you think about it. Remember the high of coming back and winning that Game 7 against the Nuggets? People declared the Wolves the Champs only for their fans to watch as they quickly ran out of gas against the Mavs. Then a few months later we all go the Shams bomb that their longest-tenured player in KAT had been traded. Talk about a wave of emotions.

And even if you as a Wolves fan have spent the last few weeks talking yourself into the new look Wolves and how this trade might be beneficial down the line, here come the Basketball Gods again ready to kick you right in the dick. With MIN/NYK playing at MSG last night and Ant/KAT being reunited, it can't feel good to hear this as a Wolves fan

Is this Ant just being playful with that Knicks fan who suggested he come to New York when his contract is up? Sure. But man, haven't Wolves fans been through enough over these last few months? How many more times are they going to have to deal with their franchise player leaving MIN and heading to a big market as they enter their prime? Even if logic tells you there is NO WAY Anthony Edwards turns down his pending supermax once he becomes eligible, that's not really the point. Now is not the time to be joking about leaving the Wolves to join the Knicks with the KAT trade still this fresh.

Why the Wolves would release that part of the video on their own social media account is anyone's guess, but again that's all part of the pain that goes with being a Minnesota sports fan. Even during the good times, there's unwarranted pain. Again, your rational brain tells you that this is two former teammates and current friends just showing each other love and it's a nothing burger, but at the same time the Wolves' history is hard to ignore. It may seem insane to think of Ant playing for a different team one day, but as we've learned when it comes to MIN, anything is possible.

My suggestion as a Wolves fan would be to

A) Just ignore this the best you can

B) Spinzone your brain into thinking that Ant somehow meant KAT would be coming back to MIN

C) Drink

Those are really your only options here. I will say given how their contracts are lined up, it is more likely there's a KAT reunion at some point, so just hold onto that sliver of hope instead.

As a palate cleanser for any Wolves fan out there, the good news is that Ant looks great and is ready for an even bigger breakout season.

And remember NO ONE turns down supermax money (should Ant qualify), and seeing as how he's only in Year 1 of his 5/244M extension this season, it's going to be a long time before Wolves fans even have to consider worrying about this. Focus on that instead.
