The College Dream: Frat President Tries Out For Kentucky Basketball, Makes The Team A Month Before The Season Starts
We're not worried about the defense of the last dude on the bench here. This is about living out the college dream and our guy Zachary Tow is doing just that. Dude went to open tryouts for Kentucky basketball (a common thing at schools) and made the team a month before the season. Not only that but the dude is from Kentucky. Do you know how much runway he has in that state now? He's going to get whatever job he wants simply because he can say Kentucky basketball player on the resume. Class? Fuck that. He's got practice and a chance to be Rudy here.
I gotta hand it to Mark Pope, this is big brain thinking. We got cooked by Gohlke last March, more of a Calipari problem, but still happened to Kentucky. We got cooked by St. Peter's before that. We find ways to lose to embarrassing teams and players and that's what Pope can't do. Let that be a John Calipari story. Bring in a guy who hopefully can score and let him cook in practice. Don't let these guys be surprised when Jack Gohlke only shoots threes.
This dude instantly becomes a cult hero on campus. Brutal for the rest of us former intramural champs (3x nbd) who dreamt of the moment of having open tryouts at Kentucky, pre-Achilles injury/blogging body. But he's going to have 20,000 people in Rupp Arena chanting for his name when we're up 32 on Arkansas in February. If I know anything about walk-ons he should instantly work on writing a blog, then a book, then have a podcast. That's just the right way to live walk-on life. Dude is living the college dream.
We're so back. That's all I can think even with something as dumb as this.
