All Grit: Dan Campbell Cut A Deal With The Lions President Three Years Ago To Bring Back The Black Jerseys If They Won The Division
It's the time of the NFL offseason where we start getting new jerseys, draft, all the shit to tease us that football might be close. It's not, but it tricks our mind. So yesterday we have the Lions releasing their new looks:
The black alternate jerseys were the talk. It's not the first time the Lions have worn black, but for some reason people are freaking out one way or another. Well, let me tell you Lions fans. Dan Campbell wanted the black jerseys back. He got them back as a reward. That is a dangerous, dangerous combo for the rest of the league. You don't give Dan Campbell something he wants and then expect them to ever lose wearing the black jerseys. Those gotta have some magic in them if Campbell asked 3 years ago for them to come back.
I said it yesterday but the Lions not changing too much about the jerseys is perfect. Gotta keep the blue and grey and simple. But for an alternate jersey? Those are awesome. Black jerseys, blue helmet, blue pants? I know people are suckers for black jerseys, but it fits the Lions. They get to use things like Motor City Muscle for them. That's how you win people over during a jersey reveal.
All I know is if Dan Campbell cut a deal three years ago to bring back the black jerseys they are gonna be just fine. Probably should start cutting deals with the President more often when you win division titles.
