'It's My Honor. My Privilege' - The GOAT Verne Lundquist Had The Perfect Sign Off From His Last Ever Masters
This right here is why I blog about Verne. The man delivered the perfect call from his last putt on 16 at Augusta. It's the end of an era. It's the end of Verne at CBS and calling games. It sucks. I'm selfish, that's all that matters really. I can admit it. I don't ever want to hear another voice at 16 besides Verne. Yes, Sir. In Your Life. Those are the calls that stick forever. Tiger paid his respect:
Tears man. I don't even care. That's the guy who has been in our life forever. That's the guy who we know and the voice we know. It's the perfect call really. He knows how prestigious this all is, but it's our privilege listening to Verne. He's the best to ever do it. I know all about getting older and guys retire. It happens. But we're losing too many of the voices of our era. No more Verne, Jim Nantz at the Final Four, Keith Jackson, the guys who started our fandom in sports.
Perfect call. Perfect ending for Verne.
