Ian Machado Garry Challenges Colby Covington To An "I Quit" Match - Loser Leaves The UFC
After being called out by Ian Machado Garry at UFC 298, Colby Covington finally responded to the Irishman last week - and detailed the three demands required for him to accept the fight....
1. Ian Machado Garry and his wife, Layla, must re-enable their comments on Instagram - and if he disables them before the fight, he would surrender his entire purse to Covington.
If you weren't aware, their comments were disabled after months of abuse from fans/fighters alike, attacking their marriage in a manner kinda reminiscent of the crusade Dillon Danis led against Nina Agdal in my opinion.
2. Ian's wife Layla must "get down on her hands and knees" and convince Colby why he should take the fight in 60 seconds or less.
3. If Colby wins, Ian's wife Layla must agree to be in one of his Instagram ads (for a competing sportsbook I will not mention).
Ian has since responded to that response, and suggested all-or-nothing type stakes for this welterweight clash. While Garry said his wife isn't a "trophy" and obviously dismissed any demand involving her - he wants the fight between him and Colby Covington to be an "I Quit" match where the loser has to leave the UFC.
While I don't think the UFC would ever allow such a thing, could you imagine how awesome it would be if they did? Straight up "LOSER LEAVES TOWN" stipulations on some of the biggest fights in the business? Whoever loses this fight is banished to the PFL/Bellator/ONE Championship? I know it probably doesn't make any sense financially, letting a big star go for virtually no reason - but I'd really love to see it for this fight. Hell, I'd like to see a few other WWE gimmick matches make their way into the UFC as well.
Tell me you wouldn't want to see McGregor/Diaz 3 as a street fight, where both dudes wear jeans into the octagon and tables/ladders/chairs/water bottles/dollys are allowed….
What about Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway for the BMF Championship at UFC 300? Let's strap a Last Man Standing stip to that, give it unlimited time, and see which man is the first who can't answer Herb Dean's ten-count. Or maybe it's not Herb Dean! Maybe it's a special guest referee! Get DC in the stripes for Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic later this year!
I'd even like to see a UFC Royal Rumble! Any division too - your music hits, you're going out there. Merab in the cage with Derrick Lewis. Suga Sean facing off against Islam Makhachev. Ilia Topuria and Alexander Volkanovski teaming up to eliminate Alex Pereira.
In the words of Joey Diaz: let's have some fuckin fun, cocksuckas.
