Cody Jinks Told the Music Industry To Fuck Itself, Stayed Independent, And Is Now Going On Tour With Luke Combs
Cody Jinks is the real deal, a country music outlaw who swapped heavy metal tees for cowboy hats but kept the attitude. Born in Texas in 1980, Jinks started out thrashing guitars in a metal band before deciding that his heart (and probably his liver) was more suited to country music. The guy's got a voice that's like whiskey on the rocks – smooth with a bite – and he writes songs that hit you right in the feels.
Back in 2015, Jinks dropped "Adobe Sessions," an album that sounds like it was recorded in your buddy's garage if your buddy had a garage in the coolest part of Texas.
It's got tracks like "Loud and Heavy," which isn't just the way you want your music but also describes the kind of nights you'll remember (or not).
But it wasn’t until 2016, with "I'm Not the Devil," that Jinks really kicked the door down. That album climbed the charts like it was running from the cops, proving that Jinks wasn't just another guy with a guitar and a dream.
What sets Cody Jinks apart isn't just his beard that looks like it could tell stories of its own. It's his no-BS approach to music. He's out here doing his own thing, building a fanbase without kissing the rings of the Nashville elite. Jinks's music is like that bar you love because it’s got character, it’s got soul, and it doesn’t care about your ex’s favorite wine.
Our interview with him was a must listen, (no, for real). He gives zero fucks yet somehow manages to play CEO of his entire operation, song writer, front man, and husband and dad. Really really impressive shit.
His commitment to staying the course and not deviating from who he is, and what kind of music he wants to create and share has gained him the respect of everybody in the industry and landed him a direct support gig on one of this summer's biggest tours in the country with none other than Luke Combs.
With albums that keep coming and a vibe that's equal parts Saturday night sin and Sunday morning redemption, Jinks has carved out a spot in the country music scene for anyone who thinks real country music died with Cash. He’s proof that authenticity still counts for something, and in a world of auto-tuned everything, Cody Jinks is keeping it as real as a heartbreak after last call.
His new album, Change The Game, drops on March 22nd. You can presave it everywhere here.
