Kalen DeBoer Is Reportedly Negotiating a Contract to Succeed Nick Saban at Alabama

It looks like Alabama's coaching search could be drawing to a close as Washington's Kalen DeBoer is reportedly in negotiations with UA to become the next head coach of the Crimson Tide following Nick Saban's retirement.

I'm still rooting for a last-minute change of heart because after DeBoer things could get ugly quickly, but if it's at this stage and being leaked, the deal is likely all but done. He obviously wasn't Bama's first call, but you get a guy with a 104-12 record as a head coach who's fresh off a national championship appearance. Alabama could have done much worse for the guy following the best to ever do it.

If DeBoer is the guy, we'll find out very quickly how well two years of Power Five head coaching experience and never having recruited in the SEC translate to following Saban in Tuscaloosa.
