Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards Addressed $100,000 Abortion Texts To An Instagram Model Saying He Was "In The Heat Of A Moment"
NY Post - Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards posted a statement on social media after a woman accused him of impregnating her and then offering her $100,000 to get an abortion.
Paige Jordae, who is said to be an Instagram model, posted alleged text messages between her and 22-year-old Edwards, in which she claimed he wrote, “Get a abortion lol” and “I will send you money to help you out,” according to screenshots on social media.
Edwards, who signed a five-year, $260 million max contract extension with the Timberwolves in July, said he made comments “in the heat of a moment,” and he’s handling the situation “privately” moving forward.
“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards wrote in a statement posted to his X account on Monday.
“All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.
“I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
Edwards is believed to be in a relationship with girlfriend, Jeanine Robel.
The screenshots, which were initially posted to Jordae’s Instagram Story, also included a screenshot of a pending wire transfer of $100,000 on Nov. 27, 2023, with JP Morgan Chase & Co. at the bottom.
The image did not show the sender and receiver.
Other messages Jordae alleged Edwards sent to her include: “I don’t want a kid,” “Just take the pills” and “Ok just make sure I get da video of the box wit the right pills.”
It would appear our guy Anthony Edwards, the basketball player-
NOT TO BE CONFUSED with the greatest co-pilot of all time
has got himself into quite a predicament…
But this blog isn't about any of that.
I was just looking for an excuse to blog and draw much-needed attention to one of the most underrated songs from the '80s, Asia's classic "Heat Of The Moment", and Anthony Edwards gave it to me with that headline.
Thank you Anthony.
Now that you're here, tell me this song doesn't fuck.
Show me a more 80s/new wave/metal song than this.
Show me a a guy who slayed more muff than this guy, Asia's lead singer
You can't, and you can't.
Wiki - "Heat of the Moment" is the first single released by English progressive rock supergroup Asia from their 1982 eponymous debut album. It was written by singer and bass guitarist John Wetton and keyboardist Geoff Downes. It was named by Lee Zimmerman of Paste as Asia's signature song.
Singer John Wetton said,
The lyrics are an abject apology for my dreadful behavior towards a particular woman (the woman I would eventually marry, but divorce 10 years later), the chorus began its life as a 6/8 country song, but when Geoff and I started writing together, we moved the time signatures around, and “Heat of the Moment” emerged. No-one else particularly “got” the song, and it was the last song to be recorded for the album. This was the case with the next two albums (that the last song recorded was to be the first single—I think it’s because Geoff and I are very, very focused by the end of recording) with “Don’t Cry” and “Go”.
(Fun fact - Asia featured an all-star lineup: John Wetton from King Crimson, Steve Howe from Yes, Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Geoff Downes from the Buggles and Yes.)
(Another fun fact - This song was featured in the movie The 40-year-old Virgin. The main character in the film (played by Steve Carell) has an Asia poster on his wall, which helps explain why he's a 40-year-old virgin. John Wetton of Asia told us that he's a big fan of the film and loved the scene where Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen accuse Carell of being gay because of his poster.)
It was also featured in an incredibly random Cartman scene in Southpark
It was also one of the best songs from two of the best video game soundtracks ever, GTA Vice City and Guitar Hero
(Sidebar- how fucking incredible was Vice City's soundtrack? Has there ever been a better video game soundtrack? Ever? Sure Tony Hawk and the Madden's get kicked around a lot but I'm arguing they're not even close. You could legit drive around listening to Emotion 98.3 with Fernando for hours and not hear a bad song. Going to be tough for them to top with the new one coming out.)
p.s. - here's anthony's girlfriend(?) Paige Jordae
