The Bears Are Reportedly Looking At The South Lot As A Potential New Stadium Site
Round and round and back home again? The Arlington Project is officially over two years old and the only progress that has been made was the destruction of the race track. The Bears have flirted with Naperville, Aurora, and Kevin Warren spoke glowing of Mayor Brandon Johnson in a letter to season ticket holders earlier this season. I would be STUNNED if the Bears made an agreement that didn't include owning their own stadium and The South Lot belongs to the City. I wonder if the City who is always in need of cash would sell everything south of McFetridge and north of McCormick to the Bears in exchange for a big lump sum and the ability to tax the bejesus out of them. If they do end up building on South Lot they better have a plan for the tailgate scene there because it is the absolute BEST part of going to a Bears game at this point.
While they're figuring that out I am going to investigate "squatter's rights" in Illinois. I am going to put a tent up in some hidden little section of Arlington Park. Shouldn't be hard to hide in a 326 acre land area. I don't think anyone is watching. I'll scoop it up and bring back the horses. If the Bears want to build a football stadium next to the race track they can shoot me a DM. Very interested in an off-season tenant.
PS: I've said time and time again that this version of Soldier Field looks AMAZING. If the Bears can fix all the issues surrounding traffic, transportation, bad concessions, no toilets, and being the smallest stadium in the NFL, then I am all in
