The Tennessee Titans Have Quickly Become The Best Farm System For The Howie Roseman And The Eagles
I gotta be honest with ya, gang. After seeing how AJ Brown came into Philadelphia and immediately turned this team into a Super Bowl contending juggernaut, I don't think I'd ever pick up the phone again if I were the GM of the Tennessee Titans and saw a 215 number on the line. I'd send that shit straight to voicemail. Howie Roseman fleeced the Titans once already, and it resulted in Jon Robinson losing his job. Now Ran Carthon is running things in Nashville and I guess he lives by the motto, "if first you don't succeed, try, try again". When in reality, the real motto here should be "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results".
Either way, Howie Roseman took a good hard look at this Eagles team through the first 7 weeks of the season. He saw the opportunity to go out there and add another playmaker to the mix by signing former Titan Julio Jones off the street. And then he knew that any chance this team would have in February would come down to adding a big piece to the secondary. So when he needed to make a move the most, he turned to ol' reliable.
I mean…Terrell Edmunds was a great personality to have in the locker room. He seems like an awesome guy to be around. But to get a 2x All-Pro for Terrell Edmunds and a 5th and 6th round draft pick? I don't know how Howie does it, but the man is addicted to swindling.
And I hope it works out for both teams. I really do. I hope somewhere down the line, the Titans benefit from these trades because that means they'll keep making them with Howie. But right now it's looking like AJ Brown and Kevin Byard for Trey Burks, Terrell Edmunds, a 5th round pick and a 6th round pick. Obviously we still need to see how Kevin Byard works out in Philly, but something tells me he's going to do just fine here.
A hometown guy who grew up with Brian Dawkins being his favorite player now getting a chance to play in the house that Dawkins built? Kevin Byard is going to come in here like a bat out of hell. And to be fair, leaving the 2-4 Titans is like getting like hell.
Anyway, the Titans are officially family from this point moving forward. I wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors to procure great players to eventually flip over to Philly for nothing.
P.S. -- I'd rather not have to find out if Marcus Mariota counts here or not.
