Ryan Day Told Ohio State's SID 'Watch This' Before He Went On His Bizarre Tirade Against Lou Holtz

Ohio State sports information director Jerry Emig deserves a ton of credit for seeing Ryan Day about to make a fool of himself on national television and doing his best to stop it. He saw the script and tried to calm his coach down before he went on camera. And Day just hit him with, "Watch this."

While I find Day's rant pretty odd, that's an incredible line to tell an SID right before you give a postgame interview. He had already picked out exactly what he was going to say, there was no turning back at that point.

You know Emig was worried as hell after that, too. Honestly, being bizarrely upset at an octogenarian is probably the best-case scenario in that spot. "Watch this," would have my mind racing as to where the following interaction could go.

I'm still a bit confused why Day was so adamant on going after Lou Holtz, but when you win a huge game on the road, you can say whatever you want, I guess. Maybe Day needs Holtz to call the Buckeyes soft again before they play Michigan or in the College Football Playoff so he can get his team to show up in those games for once.
