If Philly Fans Are Going To Go Soft On Trea Turner, His Teammates Are There To Hit Him With A "Fuck You, Trea" Chant In The Dugout After His Game-Tying Homer
If there's one thing this 2023 Philadelphia Phillies team is addicted to, it's hitting massive homers in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game only to inevitably step in a pile of dog shit in extra innings and waste all the good momentum. It seems like it's happened to Bryce Harper at least 3 or 4 times this year. And last night, it was Trea Turner playing the halfway hero. Just when you think this Phillies team is down and out for the count, you get a sick bastard like Trea Turner stepping up to the plate and saying he ain't hear no bell yet. That bell just comes an inning or two later.
Either way, Trea has had at least a hit in 31 out of the 34 games since Philly fans gave him a standing ovation. He's had a home run in 10 out of his last 13 games. Trea Turner has been playing like an absolute maniac over the past month and change, and it's all thanks to Philly fans showing the world that we're not just a bunch of brain dead neanderthals. Unfortunately, that's what the Phillies typically turn into once they get into extra innings.
Now the Phillies may have ended up losing the game last night. But that's besides the point. Because as tough as that loss was to swallow, the Phillies may have picked up something even better in the process.
Balance.
If Philly fans aren't going to be unnecessarily mean to the players in this city, then the teams will just go ahead and be aggressively mean to themselves. Hit a monster shot to deep left field to send the game to extras? Go fuck yourself, buddy.
That's what it's all about out there. You can never get too high, and you can never get too low. All the best stuff happens right there in the middle. So if Philly fans are going to get soft on Trea Turner, it's up to his teammates to bring him back down to level. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. That's how you keep this run that Turner is on going deeeeep into October.
The Braves may have picked up the win last night, but nobody gives a shit about wins on September 12th anyway. Just keep charging up the vibes for October.
