Toronto Finally Has A Hockey Team That Can Win A Championship
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) was recently introduced and will be supported financially by owners Mark and Kimbra Walker who own the Los Angeles Dodgers. For the first time, women’s professional ice hockey in North America will be organized and funded correctly.
Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ottawa, and Toronto are home to the first six teams and free agency has opened. Some big names have already started going off the board.
Boston - Hilary Knight, Aerin Frankel and Megan Keller
Minnesota - Lee Stecklen, Kelly Pannek, and Kendall Coyne Schofield
Montreal - Marie-Philip Poulin (Crosby of Women's Hockey), Ann-Renée Desbiens and Laura Stacey
New York - Abby Roque, Alex Carpenter, and Micah Zandee-Hart
Ottawa - Brianne Jenner, Emerance Maschmeyer, and Emily Clark
Toronto - Sarah Nurse, Blayre Turnbull, and Renata Fast
The puck drops in January and will feature 24 games for each team. I personally can't wait to bring my daughter to one of these games.
