Cris Collinsworth Thinks People Don't Know Patrick Mahomes Is Good
Yeah, I think we know Cris.
We had a idea he might be decent when he won two MVP's. Making it to at least the AFC Championship Game in each of the last five years was a pretty good clue too. All of America knows his BROTHER'S name. We know he's good Cris.
What strikes me from this clip is what a robot Mike Tirico is. He just sits there smiling and nodding while Collinsworth says a statement that last made sense when Black Panther was number one in movie theaters. Not the sequel. The original.
Tirico either wasn't listening or just tuned out like this guy who was auditioning to be a producer for the Kirk Minihane Show this week.
I really miss having Al Michaels calling more meaningful games. I know he's on Amazon Prime but it's not the same. As much as I miss him on NBC, Collinsworth should miss him ever more. With Tirico having as much personality as the little girl from Small Wonder, it really waters down Collinsworth. He has no one to play off of and became boring overnight.
I know no one under 40 will get the Small Wonder reference but I couldn't resist. Weird 80's show with a family that built a robot daughter.
I'm just kind of annoyed at NBC's whole broadcast. They have a pre-game show with 400 people on it and no one says anything interesting. This shouldn't be that hard. TNT already built the template with the NBA. I understand it's very rare to find anyone (much less a former athlete) as funny as Charles Barkley but don't worry about that. Just build a group that has a great rapport. Instead, we get person after person saying many words but nothing interesting.
This is why Al Michaels is the GOAT. He has personality but it never interferes with the game. He makes everyone around him better (I loved when Dennis Miller was on the Monday Night Football broadcasts with him). Mike Tirico doesn't get in the way of the game but he also somehow makes everyone around him boring.
That's enough bitching. I am thrilled football is back. It's even more fun watching these unknown players like this Mahomes kid make throws like this.
