Nick Bosa Just Got $170 Million To Be The Highest-Paid Defensive Player In NFL History Because The Salary Cap Is Fake (Unless You're A Running Back)
See, this is how you do a holdout. You know you're the best defensive player in the league and demand to be paid as so. Take a note, running backs, who hold out just to eventually sign a 1-year deal anyways. You're not going to get this money. The money is going to go guys like Bosa. Oh and if that's not enough, he's likely ready to play on Sunday against the Steelers. That's a little win-win in the business, even if everyone assumed it was coming:
Now, let's not be dumb here. This is a no-brainer for the 49ers. They are who they are. A team built on defense and running the ball. Sure, they happen to be pretty damn good, but that's who they are. The NFC is wide open. Yeah, the Eagles exist, but fuck them. Niners have to be the popular pick for 2nd best team in the NFC, right? Don't think that's crazy to say by any means. So yeah, you go sign your best player on the defensive side of the ball.
That said, I have no idea what to believe in the salary cap:
I see people saying they can keep guys or this is their last year to compete. None of it makes fucking sense and I'm a nerd. I'd love to be in the running back group chat right now though. They are out there fighting for $10 million a year and Bosa is getting this sort of deal. Luckily McCaffrey is on the 49ers and he's paid a shit ton plus engaged to a Culpo. Not a bad life there. Plus, all that matters is getting 1 Super Bowl. You get 1 it's worth it for the next 10 years.
