Game Notes Countdown To The NHL - #17 Detroit Red Wings
NHL Team: Detroit Red Wings
Conference: Eastern
Division: Atlantic
2022-23 Recap: $EBR was the Wings' best hype man going into last season and they did not hold up their end of the bargain. Stevie Y has the Yzerplan and I am still confident he will get the ship right. The Husso signing was supposed to be huge but he seemed out of sorts and everything just didn't click last season. There were definitely improvements but when they went into Ottawa and got pushed around in back-to-back games it broke the team.
Biggest Loss: Dominik Kubalík - An offensive-minded player with 45 points last year and added some clutch goals but a cool -15 is not good for a top forward. This is a loss but the Wings quickly upgraded. Read the next part!!
Biggest Addition: Alex Debrincat - Wasn't happy playing 2nd line in Ottawa so he was shipped out. Ottawa's loss is a huge gain for Detroit, Debrincat is as natural a scorer as the Wings have had in a while. His 66 points and 11 PP goals are an excellent addition to the top line with Larkin.
2023-24 Outlook: If Husso returns to form and the D core stays healthy this team will be fighting for that Wild Card all season. They have all the pieces in place now and it's time to learn how to win down the stretch.
Player To Watch: Jonatan Berggren - Young Swede got his feet wet last season scoring 15 goals in 67 games playing limited minutes. Increased ice time especially on the PP should increase those numbers.
2023-2024 Season Bet: Red Wings to make the playoffs +240
