Game Notes Countdown To The NHL - #20 Ottawa Senators
NHL Team: Ottawa Senators
Conference: Eastern
Division: Atlantic
2022-23 Recap: The Pesky Sens as RA refers to them showed glimpses of getting over the hump and reaching the playoffs, but in the end came up short. The Sens play an aggressive style led by Captain Brady Tkachuk that would take advantage of teams that were not ready for battle at puck drop. They made some big steps forward, but their depth caught up to them on a night-by-night basis during the long grind of the NHL.
Biggest Loss: Alex DeBrincat - 40 goal scorers are harder to find than gym trainers in Hoboken who want to work with Mikey G, but he didn't want to be there so it was time for him to move on.
Biggest Addition: Joonas Korpisalo - The top goalie available in free agency signed a 5-year ticket with Ottawa and for the first time in a long time, their crease is secured. The only thing to worry about is that it was Whit’s favorite move of the entire offseason in the NHL.
2023-24 Outlook: Goaltending is secure and all the young franchise players will be a year older, so a Wild Card spot is finally a reality for them. Ottawa will be on the bubble all season, but everyone can't make the dance so I have them coming up just a few points short.
Player To Watch: Josh Norris - Missed all but 8 games last year with shoulder injuries, but this guy can be a real game-changer if he knocks off the rust quickly.
Bonus Player to Watch: Jake Sanderson - The smooth-skating, Ryan Whitney look-alike D-man just signed a massive 8-year $8.05 million dollar contract extension after playing only 77 games.
2023-2024 Season Bet: Brady Tkachuk anytime goal and the Sens win parlays.
