We Need To Get The Vibes Back Following A Rough Gambling Week

We are in rough shape, ladies and gentlemen. Things were going really well for a while, and now sadly, they’ve gone sideways. The Diamondbacks couldn’t do anything against the Baltimore Orioles. I’m just going to throw this out there: I don’t think Zac Gallen is as good as people make it out to be. I’ll just leave it at that. Gary Sanchez didn’t go deep against Alex Cobb, and George Kirby had one of his worst outings of the season as the Mariners failed to cover on the run line. They lost that game straight up. So we’re in the midst of another rough stretch. Home run props have been our friend this year. Sadly, it’s been a long time since we hit on one of those. It’s a new week. We got to throw last week in the trash and start over. It’s a healthy board on Labor Day. I think we’re going to have some pretty good plays. Let’s take a look at today’s picks.

Twins -1.5 (+125) against the Guardians

I’ve seen some people who’ve bought into the idea that Cleveland could catch Minnesota in this division. They’re only five games back and just revamped their roster at the waiver wire. Lucas Giolito is making his first start for them this evening. They’ve improved their team, but I don’t think it’s made them good. First off, their offense is an absolute disaster. It’s one of the worst in baseball. I know a lot of people like Lucas Giolito. By all accounts, he’s got a good head on his shoulders, but he is not very good anymore. He was awful in his short stint with the Angels before they put them on waivers. I understand the appeal of seeing a veteran pitcher go to Cleveland. They have tended to turn some careers around, but he will only be there for a month. I don’t see him reverting to his 2019 self in such a short time. Say what you will about the AL Central; it is the worst division in baseball, but the Twins are far and away the best team. I think they’re going to prove it in the series.

Rays -1.5 (+150) against the Red Sox

This is a value play, for sure. I think the Red Sox are a team that will struggle in September. The later we get into a season, the more critical pitching becomes. The Red Sox have a pretty good lineup, but they’re severely lacking when it comes to starting pitching. Aaron Civale is going for the Rays. He has quietly put together an excellent turnaround campaign for Tampa Bay. He was acquired from Cleveland at the trade deadline, but if you look back at his last 11 starts, dating back to his time with Cleveland, he’s posted an ERA of 2.30 with pretty solid peripherals. He does not get hit hard. He’s only given up three home runs in his last 62.2 innings. The Rays are playing at home, and they will need to take this series if they want to have any hope of catching the Orioles and winning this division. I think Civale delivers today. He’s been quite good.

Jose Abreu to homer (+340) against the Rangers

I made this bet earlier this season, and while it didn’t hit, the logic was sound, and we came pretty damn close. José Abreu had a big game the last time I bet on him to go deep against Andrew Heaney. He has 23 career plate appearances against Heaney. He’s only collected five hits, but four have been home runs. I’ve never trusted Andrew Heaney. I think he’s the definition of a fifth starter who can give a team innings, but that’s about it. The Astros have slapped him around a little bit at points this season. Abreu is not the feared power hitter he once was, but he has been better in the second half. We need to hit with a home run prop, man. I think today’s the day.
