Adolis Garcia Just Came Through With One Of The Coolest Walk Off Home Runs Of 2023
Man, did the Texas Rangers need this one. I’ve written blogs about it already, but the Rangers have really been struggling over the last several weeks. It’s in large part because their bullpen is an absolute dumpster fire. I like this Ranger team, but that problem is not getting fixed. They have blown save after save after save, and it’s a big reason why they’ve coughed up what was a pretty substantial divisional lead at one point.
What’s both fun and frustrating about baseball is that you can have an all-time cold streak like what the Rangers have been on, but it’s a 162-game season. Even with the Rangers going through a brutal stretch, they came into today only two games out of first place, and with Garcia's home run, they are now only a game out of first.
This was such a cool moment. Adolis Garcia is a remarkably fun player to watch. I love his reaction to this home run. The guy was completely relieved to be able to pull one out after the bullpen blew another lead. The initial clip may not have shown it, but the umpire put his hands on Garcia's back to usher him to first base. What a buzz kill. We've seen this happen before, and it's the biggest old man yells at cloud shit that you'll see in MLB. Let the kids have fun.
The American League West is anybody's for the taking. Well, anybody, except for the Angels or the A's. But the Rangers, Mariners, and Astros all have a shot here. We'll see what the future has in store, but this might be a moment that shakes the Rangers out of their funk. They really needed this one.
