Any night that I have nothing going on with my life I go onto YouTube and roam through many different types of videos ranging from cooking videos, reenactments of Roman Coliseum duels, World War II in color, Sopranos clips, and much more. So if you couldn't tell, it makes for quite the wide array of suggested videos and last night I noticed one in the right tab titled "19 year old crossing the Pacific Ocean alone" and immediately said ya know what? Let's give it a shot.
And give it a shot I did! I sat there for an hour on edge as if I was watching Uncut Gems in theaters for the first time watching young Garrett journey from Honolulu, Hawaii to Tahiti in French Polynesia. All bullshit aside the sheer bravery & utterly insaneness (I don't even know if that's a word) coming from Garrett here is fucking AWESOME to see. Most 19 year olds are trying to join frats, chase chicks, or constantly stress over becoming class valedictorian and here we have this daredevil crossing the Pacific Ocean by HIMSELF for over THREE GODDAMN WEEKS. Good for him just grabbing life by the horns like some sort of solo aquatic Van Wilder and documenting it on YouTube as well as TikTok.
Much more can be seen here.
Just a riveting watch of up's & down's like when he gets through squalls (Yeah I fucking know what that means now), waves splash his bed, he makes his freeze dried meals, he makes new friends in the birds hanging out on the boat, gets VERY angry at the other boats when they don't answer their radios, and most importantly finally sees land at the end of the 3rd video. Great watch. Highly recommend. Go Garrett Go.
