Tyson Fury And Francis Ngannou Are About To Make A LOT Of Money.
I just got the email from Top Rank... Its title:
FURY VS NGANNOU: WHO IS THE BADDEST MAN ON THE PLANET? Heavyweight Titans set to clash October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
("Let's make lots of money.")
There is one fight that heavyweight boxing fans want to see above all others, and this ain't it… However, this one is also pretty compelling.
I will defer to the likes of Robbie, Big Ev, or Jack to convince you that Francis has a shot here, but it's my job to convince you of the exact opposite… Tyson Fury should WASH Ngannou in October.
That is not a dig against this Cameroonian predator. Francis has a wonderful backstory and an equally-wonderful record in mixed martial arts. It looks like 12 of his 17 wins in the octagon came by KO, which tells me he throws bombs. And his 3 losses came by decision, which tells me he has a chin.
Plus, physically he looks like an action figure…
Especially versus Tyson's physique…
However, none of the men on Francis' resumé are professional boxers, and what little time he has spent in a "squared circle" throughout his career has not been against a fighter even near Tyson Fury's skill set. So the fact that the fight will take place in a regulation boxing ring under boxing rules (including three ringside judges using the 10-point must system) makes Fury an OVERWHELMING favorite in his own natural habitat.
I did not see the number of rounds the fight is set for yet, nor whether Fury's WBC heavyweight title will be on the line. But I am fairly certain this will be the classic case of a 6'9" Fury controlling the action and coasting comfortably to a decision.
Now… Does the bomb-throwing 6'4" Ngannou have a puncher's chance?… Of course, he does.
But so did the missile-throwing 6'7" Deontay Wilder (3 times).
Is this a Jake Paul-esque case where I think Francis does not belong in a boxing ring against a professional fighter?
(And Tommy is barely a professional fighter.)
Of course, not.
But Ngannou would be better served fighting someone else in the division… Perhaps ANYONE else. Although, tune-up fights won't provide him with the tremendous bag of money being thrown his way by the Saudis for his matchup vs boxing's lineal heavyweight champion.
For Ngannou fans who feel I am wrong here, the good news is that you have until October to change my mind. The bad news is that your boy has only a couple of months before he is dominated on a huge PPV stage. I just hope the lead-up to the fight resembles the 24-7's we used to get on HBO because the backstories here are amazing for new fans to witness perhaps for the first time.
For example: Did you know Tyson Fury masturbates 5-7 times a day during training camp?
Beat that, Francis… Literally.
Enjoy the fight and take a report.

That fight everyone wants to see is obviously Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship
