Here's A New One: Bob Huggins Is Reportedly Demanding To Be Reinstated As WVU Head Coach, Claims He Never Resigned
I'll be honest. I have no idea what the fuck is going on here. We're a few weeks removed of Bob Huggins resigning as head coach at WVU after a DUI. That was sort of the last straw - at least how it was always made out to be - and the resignation was just a 'hey we're not saying this is a firing' type deal. But now he's threatening to sue WVU because he didn't actually resign?
Sure. Didn't have that one on the bingo card.
Remember WVU is Huggy's home. This is where he grew up. This is where he went to college. Everything about this was a homecoming and the perfect job for him. Not like he wasn't successful here either, getting them to a Final Four (vacate it now, no real reason). Now he's threatening to sue them if he's not reinstated as head coach (after they named an interim coach) and a separate attorney says he never actually resigned.
Again, what the fuck is going on here? This is for sure one of the weirder stories I can remember when you look at all those tweets and the conflicting stories and reports. It also appears that WVU is ready to fight. They have the report that Huggins resigned, they won't let him come back, all that other stuff. Pretty sure that's how it works? I'm not up to date on that sort of law but I don't think Huggins can just declare he's the head coach again if he resigned.
I'm sure it's likely going to be due to something with money and the buyout. That's the only way this makes sense. But uh pretty sure there's a better way to go about it. Either way, just your standard summer Saturday night in college basketball.
