Skell Of The Week: This Absolute Hardo Who Takes Losing A Basketball Camp Championship Too Seriously
Got this sent to me through some friends, and found it to be a perfect blog for Skell of the Week.
First off, shout out to all the coaches across the country improving players and teaching the game. It takes a special person to give back their time and knowledge and help inspire the next generation of hoopers in the world. These coaches do this for very little money, but make an impact whether they realize it or not. I still remember the things I learned at camps from years ago. Shout out to all the coaches , and a special shoutout to the guys at Eagle Camp where this gem comes form.
So let's break this one down.
This is a camp championship game in which some kid hits an awesome buzzer beater. Great moment, what it's all about. One reply to the tweet absolute nails it ...
Camp is about getting better in the summer and using the things you learn for your upcoming season. Wins and losses don't matter. You are supposed to try new stuff, work on your left hand etc. Maybe that player needed that shot to boost his confidence for next year and now he can use that moment as a pinpoint to believe he can do it, he can make the shot. That's something everyone roots for. Unless....
Unless you are a absolute hardo who is coaching the other team and immediately (and wrongfully) complain to the ref (likely a great guy who doesn't get much pay for the week) about the shot not counting. WHAT A HARDO ! (SHOUTOUT SMITTY)
It's so blatantly obvious the shot got off in time.
And you got a guy looking like a rip off John Thompson with a tee shirt or a towel around his neck screaming with excuses because he couldn't teach his team to close out over the course of 5 days. Hey buddy … this loss is on you not the refs.
There's also a rumor from the guys who sent me this, that this wanna be John Thompson claims he is "The winningest coach in camp history" and tried to make a powerpoint presentation when he did it but got shutdown as it would have been the most embarrassment moment in program history. He should have just made the video outside of Jersey Mikes Arena (if you know you know.)
All time skell … maybe the leader in the clubhouse for Skell of the Week.
I also love the ref signaling it's good right in his face …. what a move.
Lesson to all … never go full hardo, and don't take games that don't matter that serious or you'll end up like this guy screaming his head off.
