Carey Price Got To Announce The Canadiens' Draft Pick And Proceeded To Totally Forget Who The Hell They Chose

Congratulations to us all here at Barstool Sports. We're sending tons of talent to Chicago, and Wednesday night it became official that Connor Bedard is on the Blackhawks.

Such beautiful synchronicity. Obviously there wasn't much suspense as to who was going first overall, though.

In STARK contrast, the honest mistake made by Montreal Canadiens legendary goaltender Carey Price — what this blog is actually about — was rife with suspense, hilarity and made for a most welcome surprise. His face is priceless. It's like that classic actor's bad dream where you get on stage in front of a packed house and forget all your lines.

You have to feel for the player who the Canadiens did, in fact, select: defenseman David Reinbacher. Poor guy has the biggest moment of his young life to date and sees the literal face of the franchise flub his surname. At least he got "David" right! Right?

Good ol' Carey got some help from whichever member of Montreal's brass came up to finish off the pick announcement. There's some kind of "Price was saved for once" or "assist" sort of hockey pun you could force here but I'll leave it be. I'd rather talk about how great the ending to this mini sketch was, because once the last name "Reinbacher" was said, you can hear Price pronounce his name differently into the microphone right after.

Injuries have unfortunately derailed the 35-year-old Price's career, so it's nice to see him in good spirits and still in the mix with the Habs on such a special evening. Just makes me miss him a little more, because the team is a mess without him, and the NHL is better when Montreal is contending.

Reinbacher is only 18, originally from Austria, and should have a great, long career ahead given his gaudy draft status. Not really a supreme scoring threat from what little I can gather. Oh well. The Habs need help everywhere and it behooves them to get a quality blue-liner like Reinbacher without an elite backstop like Price to bail out the rest of the club.
