I Want To Thank The Yankees For DFAing Aaron Hicks Because He's Been An Absolute MONSTER Since Coming To Baltimore
I'm here to say I was wrong. Flat out wrong. I wrote a few weeks back that I wanted nothing to do with the Orioles signing Aaron Hicks once Cedric Mullins went down.
Well as usual, I was dead wrong. Aaron Hicks is well on his way to Cooperstown, and he's going in as an Oriole. He's been on base every single game since he got to Baltimore and is showing 0 signs of slowing down. All he's done since he put on the orange and black is slash .364/.488/.667 for a OPS of 1.154. 2 homers including one that went bang-a-rang off the foul pole last night, 2 doubles, a triple, and 5 driven in.
Hicks has been so damn good in this short period, he's basically a cult hero in Baltimore now. We're talking about building statues and wondering when he goes into the HOF. He was exactly what the Orioles needed. Yankee fans wanted him off the roster so bad, he comes to a team that needs some OF depth and look how he responds. It's amazing to see a guy like this bounce back after he'd been chewed up and spit out for years. Sometimes all you need to do is let a guy grow a beard and he'll rake. And the fact that the Yankees are still paying him a ton of money? Priceless.
I don't know how long Aaron Hicks stays hot but man oh man am I going to ride this hot streak. What a breath of fresh air this guy has been. One team's trash is another team's treasure, right?
