A Playlist For New Yorkers on Their Smog Filled Commute
For those of you who are either living off the grid or breathing in clean air, NYC is experiencing an apocalyptic orange haze thanks to our kind friends up in Canada. I don't know much and god forbid I fact check but I'm pretty sure there's a forest fire in Ontario which as a result has polluted the air all the way down to the North East. If I remember correctly, the last time we had this experience in this neck of the woods it was blown over from the Golden State. Not as close, not as bad.
Anyways, I'm 24 years old and a victim of my generations strongest enemy: a fruity tootie vaparoonie. Filled with popcorn lung and Smokey the Bear's ashes, I walked to and from work today. On my commute, many people were wearing masks but almost everyone had their headphones in. I debated buying a mask but when I got to the counter I couldn't shake this voice in the back of my head. Who was this voice, and what were they saying? Well, it was my Fox News of a father's voice and I prefer not to repeat what it said in fear of getting cancelled. I left the store without buying anything. No mask, but I did have my headphones. I'm afraid of being cancelled but my headphones aren't. (Noise cancelling headphone joke. Bad, but fuck it.)
Many people in New York believe that THEY are the main character in the city we all share, including myself. Today's scene of the movie included a smog filled hard to breathe setting, and I figured the soundtrack simply must match. So, I made a playlist to set the mood. Now all the extras commuting in my movie can listen along while they play out their own leading role in their lives.
I present to you: Smoggin' Around NYC. Featuring the 'Canadian National Anthem' directly followed by 'We Didn't Start The Fire'
