The XFL Knows How To Put Asses In The Seats, And It's About Putting Fists Through Faces
Does the XFL need enforcers? From the looks of it, they already have plenty out there.
Credit to these guys for finally realizing what the league needs to do in order for this iteration of the XFL to last longer than a few months. At the end of the day, there's nobody who is going to watch the XFL purely for the football component of the game. The NFL is a better product. College football is a better product. There's a reason why minor leagues don't have major broadcasting deals.
At the end of the day, the value of minor league sports is that they are typically a cheap ticket to bring the whole family to the game. Or it's a cheap ticket for a bunch of younger folks who don't want to shell out a couple hundred dollars for an NFL game and then have to pay $12 for a can of beer once they're in the gate. The in-game atmosphere is great, but cheap tickets aren't going to keep the lights on when those bills need to be paid. That all comes with the broadcasting deals.
The best way to get people to tune in on television?

I couldn't possibly disagree more if I tried. There's not going to be an XFL past April if you don't get more of this. America is football obsessed, for sure, but not enough for there to be a sustainable market in "professional football played by guys who aren't good enough to stay on a 53-man NFL roster". That would be like somebody seeing the success of apple pie and deciding that they'll make their own apple pie but using broccoli instead of apples. No thanks. Now if you just amend that to "professional football played by guys who aren't good enough to stay on a 53-man NFL roster BUT they can also square up and fight each other in the middle of the play without getting kicked out of the game"….well now we're on to something.
