THR- Succession, the Emmy-winning HBO drama that helped redefine the premium cable network following the end of Game of Thrones, is ending.

Creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong revealed that the upcoming fourth season will indeed be its final run on the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed premium cable network, telling the New Yorker that “there’s a promise in the title of Succession. I’ve never thought this could go on forever. The end has always been kind of present in my mind. From season two, I’ve been trying to think: Is it the next one, or the one after that, or is it the one after that?”

“I got together with a few of my fellow writers before we started the writing of season four, in about November, December, 2021, and I sort of said, ‘Look, I think this maybe should be it. But what do you think?’ And we played out various scenarios: We could do a couple of short seasons, or two more seasons. Or we could go on for ages and turn the show into something rather different, and be a more rangy, freewheeling kind of fun show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks. Or we could do something a bit more muscular and complete, and go out sort of strong. And that was definitely always my preference.”

Yup, the five stages of grief hit quickly and like a ton of bricks when finding out Succession is about to close up shop for good. But in the end it should definitely be a good thing because it means Season 4 has a chance to be an absolute monster as they bag up all the shit that has fallen from the fucked up Roy family tree.

Stakes always seemed high in Succession, even if a ton of change never ended up happening. But those stakes are going to feel raised to a whole level now that we aren't going to boar on the floor no more after these final 10 episodes.

Here are a few thoughts now that we are in the endgame now:

- People that bought low on Tom Wambsgans back when he was just a theme park boy that got a massive cruises scandals dumped on his lap must be feeling pretty good right now. However I must remind all of Wambsgans Warriors that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and the look on Shiv's face is quite literally the definition of scorned.

- In full disclosure, I am the conductor of the Shiv Wagon, which I thought could pull into the CEO role if given a couple of seasons to get back on track. But it looks like this news is going to have to speed up our timeline, which I'm fine with because our girl has always chugged through every setback.

- Could Kendall grow a pair one last time only for his dad to snip said pair off and keep them in a jar on his shelf? I could see it.

- Ahhh who am I kidding? This has all been one long play for Greg The Egg to climb the ladder of success escalator style directly to the top of the org chart.

- I have no clue what the hell Roman has in store for us the rest of the series, but he would be my number 1 pick in a Succession Death Pool because I feel like he is going to step things up with the sexual depravity aspect of things, which could easily end in some sort of embarrassing asphyxiation death. Whether or not it's Gerri with the Rope in the Conservatory is still TBD.

- Speaking of the corporate lackeys, I'm expecting nothing but bangers every time those blood suckers Karl and Frank are on screen.

- My biggest fear in all this is that it's going to be hard to fit Connor's presidential run and victory in just one season where I suppose the other characters are going to have to get their stories wrapped up as well. Willa is going to be a wonderful First Lady.

- Tyler Morin of Barstool Finance and The Water Coolest fame hit me up about doing a live recap show after each episode is over, which seems like a must now that this is the final season. What that show looks like, who is on it, and where we broadcast it is still being figured out. But we'll get something figured out before Succession graces our TV one last time starting March 26th.
