Paul Pierce Gave An Emotional (And Most Likely Hammered Drunk) Congratulations To LeBron Last Night After Breaking The Scoring Record
I know someone who is emotional drunk off the Henny when I see it. If this was an in-person conversation he would be hugging LeBron just a little too tightly around the neck with one arm while slapping his chest with the other. Tears welling up in his eyes and speaking in slurred circles.
We've all had this interaction with a drunk uncle at a family party. A conversation that feels vaguely jealous but he is still trying to somehow get out some kind words about your great new job and girlfriend. But the best he can muster up is repeatedly saying "I'm proud of you nephew" and commenting how hot your girlfriend's ass looks every time she comes over for Thanksgiving.
No disrespect, nephew.
Thanks Uncle Paul, it's always nice to see you too.
And of course it wouldn't be Paul Pierce unless there was some self aggrandizing to go along with it.
There's The Truth we all know and love. The guy who refused to give LeBron his proper credit until 38,390 points and a pint of brown liquor later. No one is more delusional about their place in history than Paul Pierce. And while that used to drive me insane it's actually starting to become endearing to me.
He's so off the reservation of reality that it's almost cute. Sure, that famous clip of Jalen Rose absolutely crushing his soul to his face is funny and all. But you can tell Paul doesn't even believe the numbers being thrown at him.
He's just sitting there like….
Paul doesn't respect numbers. Paul doesn't respect legacy debates. Based on his tweet last night and some of his past social media work, the only thing Paul truly respects is a good time. And that is something I will always respect about him.
