Jack Hughes And The Devils Can't Stop, Won't Stop Ripping Heaters

Mother heckin' Jack Hughes, man. The young man looks like he should be casted in a Disney Channel original movie. One where the best hockey player in the school is secretly dating a nerd because of her inner-beauty but then once they take her glasses off, all of a sudden she's the hottest chick in the school. You know the type of movie I'm talking about. Nothing about him screams "biggest bad ass in the National Hockey League". But this maniac is currently leading the Devils on their 2nd longest win streak in franchise history while riding a personal 4-game point streak.

Talk about a heater.

On Tuesday night the Devils made light work out of the Canadiens to take their win streak to 10 games. Jack Hughes had a quick 2 goals and an assist on the night.

Last night the Devils were in Toronto. Matthews vs Hughes. A matchup of two of the best American players in the game right now that we'll probably end up seeing quite a few times in first round playoff series for years to come. Matthews got the game started with a powerplay goal late in the 1st period. But this game needed 61 to determine a winner. So in the first minute of the overtime period, here comes Jack Hughes ready to keep the heat on in that bitch.

Steps up and intercepts the pass at the blueline. Gets a shot on net. Follows up his own rebound. Gets tripped up but still causes enough chaos in front of the net for Yegor Sharangovich to bury the game winner.  7 points in his last 4 games. 16 points during this 11-game heater. It may have taken him a few years to get the hang of things in the NHL, but it looks like New Jersey is getting exactly what they thought they were getting when they drafted Jack Hughes.

Also I doubt the Devils ever truly expected to get a ton out of a 6th round (162nd overall) pick in the 2016 draft. But Jesper Bratt went out and put up 73 points in 76 games last season, and is now following that up with 22 points through 17 games so far this year.

He currently has the 6th most points all-time out of any 6th round pick in NHL history. Mark Stone, Anders Lee, Jared Spurgeon, Nick Bonino and Patrick Maroon are ahead of him. But shoutout to the Bratt Pack. What an insane hit in the draft that turned out to be.
