The Astros Stay Hot With This Massive W
Alex Bregman has had a rough go of this season. The guy who infamously went RB-RB-RB-RB last year and took the league by storm started off 0-5. To his credit, he'd been HUSTLING and making deals left and right. But they haven't really worked out for him. Until this week. When he took on the 5-0 squad led by Jake Marisnick.
Marisnick got strong play from most of his starters outside of Saquon Barkley and DK Metcalf. His Defense also let him down, but Bregman, who has renamed his team One at A time got a mega performance out of Ja'Marr Chase who went home to New Orleans this past weekend, smashing his projection by 14.3 points. Rhamondre Stevenson also looked like a savvy swap as he outdid his projection by 9.4 points. At TE, Robert Tonyan's 10 catch 90 yard game was a big boost and despite his continued ineptitude at the QB position, he got his first W. The Astros are hot!
Then we had a huge battle with Mike Moustakas who is a wagon vs. Dave Portnoy who started 4-1.
Moose leads the league in points scored and showed why here, nearly matching his projection despite off games from Lamar Jackson and his RB2 last week, Eno Benjamin. Dave fell by under 10 points with JK Dobbins being the main culprit who got hurt and missed his projection by 10.2 points. Tom Brady also struggled again and from what I hear is firmly on the hot seat with Portnoy.
Don't look now, but Eric Hosmer's team is heating up…
He just continues to get good performances out of rotational guys, this week the star being Brandon Aiyuk. Travis Kelce is giving him such a leg up at the TE spot (won this week by 14.1 points) that he has the luxury of losing some other spots. Jeff Wilson Jr. had a dreadful game along with Devin Duvernay, but he overcame it, mainly due to Justin Herbert's egg he laid on Monday Night and David Montgomery. Herbert missed his projection by 13.08 points and Monty fell short by 7.0 points.
The Ja'Marr Chase-less Ja'Marr U Lose Ja'Less U Care squad headed up by Shane Bieber and Austin Hedges are also rolling.
A star studded backfield with newly acquired Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fourtnette are a big reason as they put up 44.9 combined points this week. That masked the stinker from the Mike & Mike crew of Evans and Williams who missed their projections by a combined 16.9 points. They'll get DeAndre Hopkins back from suspension beginning tomorrow night which will only really steady the ship after Hollywood Brown's injury. The Joc Pederson, Alex Wood, & Austin Barnes trio who have renamed their squad High Ankle Sprain had a tough week with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Dameon Pierce both on a bye. Then had to start the week with a Carson Wentz dud, so they never really got off the ground in this one.
Who has been hotter in the sports world than Manny Machado? He kept that rolling into the fantasy world with a dominating performance over Mike Napoli in Week 6.
Another good use case for going TE early as Mark Andrews outscored the team's opposing TE by 14.6. That type of cushion is ideal, but he didn't even need it. Joe Burrow was QB1 on the week back in New Orleans. Austin Ekeler is also starting to live up to his draft status with 24.3 points. Kenneth Walker III also seems to be a hidden gem as he's shining with Rashaad Penny sidelined. Napoli is in trouble with the Eagles and Rams on a bye. None of those guys did enough to help him get the W and he only had two players over projection which is always a losing formula.
And finally we had Wil Myers coming off the highest scoring week in The Show this season vs. Mike Trout.
Trout had struggled. to get his QB1 optimized all year, but it worked this past week as he only had one healthy guy who did perform. However, Derrick Henry had a bye and Nick Chubb underperformed his projection by 9.6 points. DJ Moore has been a fantasy dud this season and this team is in need of a spark. Wil's team got a huge game out of Michael Pittman Jr. and despite poor showings from Tyler Lockett and Tyler Higbee, they rolled to a 32 point win.
Here's where we stand after six weeks:
