Yordan Alvarez Is The Baddest Man On The Planet, Hits Another Big Home Run To Give The Astros A 2-0 Series Lead
Same shit, different day with Yordan Alvarez. If the Astros are losing with a guy on base and you put a ball anywhere near the zone, he's going to hit it out for a go-ahead homer. He's just that good. Honestly he should be talked about more as one of the best hitters in baseball. He had an insanely quiet .306/.406/.613 slash line to go with 37 homers, 97 driven in, and only 106 Ks in 135 games. He's a monster and should be an MVP candidate.
Then you look at what he's done in the playoffs the last few days. Just a monster walk-off bomb in Game 1 and a go-ahead bomb in Game 2. He's unreal. This ball he hit on Thursday is a ball you just don't hit out for a homer. You usually lay some wood on it and it falls into left field. Alvarez went ahead and made it a souvenir. Yordan became the first player in MLB playoff history to have more than 1 career go-ahead homers in the sixth inning or later while his team was losing. And as you know, he did it in back-to-back games at the ripe old age of 25. That is incredible.
Then Alvarez came up in another big situation with a chance to ice the game and the Mariners did the smart thing by walking him. Unfortunately for the M's, Alex Bregman bats after Alvarez and did what he does by coming through big time with the insurance run. This team has so many weapons with no easy outs in the lineup at all.
So the Astros take a 2-0 lead into Seattle as the Mariners look to try and avoid a sweep in their first trip back to the playoffs in over 20 years. They've had their chances, but just can't seem to be able to finish. At least now they have their home crowd behind them. Gotta think you don't let Alvarez see 1 single pitch to hit at all. Decent chance he hits one into the Seahawks field if you put one near the zone. It's looking grim for Seattle, let's see if they can make it a series at home.
PS. Just imagine if the Dodgers had held onto him. Imagine.
