Cris Collinsworth Broke Down The Origin Of The Collinsworth Slide-In And Revealed If It Will Ever Come Back

So there you have it folks! One of the simplest pleasures in life wasn't a product of Cris Collinsworth effortlessly having some fun or oozing the perfect amount of swagger before the night we've been waiting all day for. It was just a happy accident thanks to an angry cameraman and a goofy 6'5" football announcer with a shit eating grin wheeling himself in on a chair with tape between his legs. Yes that sounds patently absurd as I type it out. But there's no way Cris would tell a fib to someone as delightful as Kay Adams.

Now while the origin story of the Collinsworth slide in are interesting, the announcement that it is dead for now is going to break some hearts. But I think I'm okay with it. The slide in was an Al and Cris thing. As a fellow Italian, I know Mike Tirico would have no problem talking for a bit in an opening monologue to give Collinsworth the excuse to roll in. But it just wouldn't feel right.

If my parents ever got divorced then remarried, I wouldn't want my step parents to act the exact same way that my parents did when they were together. It would be weird for them and it would be weird for everyone watching. Yeah I just compared a few NFL announcers to my parents since I probably spend more time with NFL announcers on TV than I do with my parents in person during football season, so saying that isn't that much of a stretch.

Now that I think of it, I should probably go say hi to my parents since they live two minutes down the road. So I'll leave you with a heartfelt tribute to what was the perfect first sip to our weekly nightcap of NFL Sunday for 4 or so months. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
